The Process
The process involves a number of phases which are detailed below.
Questionnaire:
Prior to the first meeting, you will be asked to complete and return a questionnaire about your health, symptoms, lifestyle and eating habits.
Consultation:
The first consultation will last approximately one hour. During this consultation time will be spent getting to know more about your health goals and what you hope to achieve from the process. Following this, possible underlying causes for your ill health will be discussed along with suggestions for how you can adapt your diet to bring about positive changes to your heatlh.
At the end of this consultation you will take away with you a personalised plan covering your diet and lifestyle. This will address your health priorities and will be realistic and achievable for you. You will be given a written report with practical advice on what to do at home.
Implementation:
This is the most important part of the process! Changes in diet can often have dramatic effects on health, but it is common for these to come about gradually. Improvements can be felt in a matter of days, but it is usual for the body to take several weeks to really start adapting to a new regime.
Follow up:
After six to eight weeks it is usual to return for a follow-up consultation which typicaly lasts 30-40 minutes. This is important not only for motivation and monitoring purposes, but also to make sure that we are on the correct path to restoring optimum health. There are often many factors which contribute to ill health and it is not always realistic to address all of these in the first consultation. Depending on progress it may be necessary to have several follow up consultations, or just one.
Please note:
Nutritional Therapy is suitable for all ages, however children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Always consult your GP if you think you have a medical condition.
